This project by Erik Burke is about showing your colors as a writer but also how to reenact a piece passing on a train without actually painting a piece upon it.

‘My Piece is Still Running’ is a graffiti colloquialism to describe seeing one’s piece pass on a train, an in running, or still being in operation. Even today many graffiti writers will use the phrase to signify that their work still exists.

erikburke Back in the day, writers used to paint their piece on the backs of denim jackets to show off their style. Erik Burke, who started this project, was inspired by this but wanted to make it into a collective identity. In order to create the visual effect of a ‘running piece’ in the subway, he took a piece of Crash and painted it across the back of a row of t-shirts, breaking it into smaller pieces. He then had 5 people wearing the t-shirts running alongside passing trains on the platform. Resulting in this:
