The crew from the website WhoSampled recently held the world’s first ‘Samplethon’, a hackathon style competition where twenty selected producers were given access to previously unavailable samples mined from the original material from the Boosey & Hawkes and Cavendish catalogues. Tasked to create their own beat against the clock; armed with their own equipment and with the supervision of a crew of ‘esteemed’ mentors the winners chosen at the end of the session by a panel of judges.
