CEREALISCIOUS MADNESS

A show by SjocoSjon consisting of new paintings and installations. **OPENING: Friday the 5th of June, 18:30 – 21:30 **Carhartt Store Amsterdam Hartenstraat 18 1016 CB AMSTERDAM

When you get over the first shock entering the exuberant website of Sjocosjon, you’ll discover this young lad has already created his own unique style. His solo exhibition will take place at the Carhartt store Amsterdam, opening this friday.

We’ve seen these ‘street clothing meets street art’ collaborations before. Mashville, Shoe, store keepers in Amsterdam seem to have a weak spot for street art. Which is of course a good thing, because I would rather spot a streetsy character next to a pair of Nike’s than a Van Gogh. Though that would be nice too,  a shop like Carhartt feels a more natural habitat for the works of street artists. Back to Sjocojon’s exhibition. Taking corn flakes and other cereals as inspiration for an art exhibition is quite an unusual choice. In the public announcement it therefor says:

We’ve grown used to wonders in this century. It’s hard to dazzle us. But for hundred and fifteen years corn flakes and other cereals have been doing just that. We’ve grown used to the idea of a healthy breakfast, and, perhaps we forget that we’ve only just begun. We’re still pioneers. He, SjocoSjon is a pioneer who is all about exploration and discovery.
